Second announcement Dear Arny’s Army and Friends Thank you to those who have completed the preliminary registration form and notifying your intention to attend the Seventh International Symposium on Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology, in honour of our good friend, colleague and mentor, Prof Arny Demain. Many of you are intending to attend the 11th Genetics of Industrial Microorganism Symposium, which is being held in Melbourne at the Convention & Exhibition Centre 28 June – 1 July, 2010 (http://www.gim2010.org/). For those of you who are only attending the AA&F gathering, I am pleased to announce that you are welcome to attend the closing Plenary session of the GIMS Symposium, which will be presented by Arny at 4p.m., July 1, 2010, at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Details of the venue can be found on the GIM2010 site. You will need to report to the registration desk of that meeting to collect a “visitor’s pass” for entry. The gim2010 site also has a link to a free copy of the Australian Microbiologist, the official publication of the Australian Society for Microbiology. You may be interested in the feature article on Prof Demain, which is the last paper in this special edition. The
